Rosacea Q & A
What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness in your facial skin. It might also come with other skin challenges, like acne or small, red bumps. Those bumps may contain pus.
Most people with rosacea observe that it comes in waves. You may have clear, unblemished skin for a while, then deal with a rosacea flare-up for weeks, or even months.
Rosacea affects everyone, but it’s most common in middle-aged women with fair skin. There is no cure for rosacea but, fortunately, there are a number of treatments available at SINY® Dermatology to control your rosacea so your skin looks its best.
What are the symptoms of rosacea?
If you commonly deal with excessive redness in your skin, you might live with rosacea. Other symptoms include:
-
Thickened skin on your nose, forehead, chin, or cheeks
-
Skin that is hot or tender to the touch
-
Visible blood vessels on the surface of your skin
-
Eye dryness and/or red, irritated eyelids
-
Acne
How do I treat rosacea?
The good news about rosacea is that there are quite a few treatments available to help calm and minimize your flare-ups so you can enjoy even, beautiful skin. SINY® Dermatology partners with you to find the treatments that work best for your unique skin. They offer the following:
Pigment laser treatment
SINY® Dermatology offers laser treatment to target and break up the redness in your skin, helping it look its best.
Photodynamic therapy
Much like laser treatment, photodynamic therapy targets the redness in your skin. This treatment starts with the application of a topical photosensitizer to your skin’s surface.
Once exposed to light energy, the photosensitizer activates, destroying the rosacea-affected cells to clear your skin.
Medication
SINY® Dermatology offers both topical and oral medication to calm rosacea and reduce redness.
Stress-reduction techniques
Have you noticed that increased stress levels trigger your rosacea flare-ups? The dedicated skin care team at SINY® Dermatology offers stress-reduction techniques to help with this specific cause of rosacea and improve your skin long-term.
You don’t have to spend your life battling rosacea. Work with the experts at SINY® Dermatology to find a treatment plan that works for you.
